Dock, Hoists & Moorings
Dock
During the summer season the waterfront facilities at MBYC are composed of a main dock with a T shaped structure on its western end and several floats. The outboard northern and western floats are suitable for larger yachts while the inboard floats are used for dinghy, Laser, sailboard storage, Club launches and boat hoists. For purposed herein the outboard northern and western floats will be referred to as the main floats.
Rack space is available on a float for small boats such as Lasers, Windsurfers, and Sunfish. Float space is available for yacht tenders, fishing skiffs and Optimists. All such boat shall be removed from the floats and racks and from the Club premises during the winter months by November 15th to make way for winter frostbiting.
Frostbite Dinghy storage is available in the garage and in the Junior Yacht Club. Charges for and assignment of frostbite facilities is coordinated by the Winter Sports Committee.
Hoists
The Boat Hoist on the Dry Sail Dock must be operated by only qualified members of the Club, the Dockmaster, a member of the dock staff, the Ideal 18 Program Director, or one of the Junior Sailing Class Instructors. The decision to use the Boat Hoist on the Dry Sail Dock for privately owned boats is made by the boat owner. When launching or hauling club owned boats, the Boat Hoist on the Dry Sail Dock must be operated by Dockmaster, a member of the dock staff, the Ideal 18 Program Director, or qualified Club members as determined by the Dockmaster. Manhasset Bay Yacht Club assumes no responsibility for any personal inury or damage to any boat or other property.
Moorings
Seasonal mooring service charges* are made for all boats according to overall length. Such charges cover periodic inspection, as required, but do not include replacement of equipment nor labor to maintain mooring. Pick-up buoys and pennants are supplied and maintained by the Club.
*A schedule of seasonal charges for services is available at the Club office-such charges are shown on the annual application for marine facilities.
